What is the AWS Certified Developer Associate Certification?
The AWS Certified Developer – Associate certification is one of three associate-level AWS certifications. The AWS Certified Developer exam aims to test knowledge of the key services and tools used by developers creating applications on AWS.
Is the AWS Developer Certification worth it?
The AWS Certified Developer Associate certification is one of the most sought-after certifications in the cloud computing industry. AWS Cloud Developers are in huge demand and salaries can be above $150,000 USD per annum. Earning this certification will place you in an elite group of professionals who are able to command high salaries.
I don't have any programming experience. Will this be an issue?
Though it will certainly help if you’re an experienced developer, it is not necessary to have coding experience to do this course or pass the exam. Everything you need to know is covered in our training resources. We provide all code samples in the video course and teach you practical skills through many hours of guided hands-on exercises.
For the Developer Associate exam, you need to be able to read some simple code snippets but don’t need to be able to write code yourself.
How long to study for the AWS Developer exam?
All of our video-based certification courses come with a free study plan that helps you plan your study period. We recommend that you allocate at least 60 minutes of study time per day and you will then be able to complete the certification within 1 month (including taking the actual exam). Study times can vary based on your experience with AWS and how much time you have each day, with some students passing their exams much faster and others taking a little longer.
How hard is the AWS Certified Developer Associate exam?
The AWS Developer Associate certification is of moderate difficulty and achievable by anyone with a basic understanding of cloud computing concepts and the fundamentals of AWS. Solid preparation is important and we ensure you’re fully covered with our combination of video-based training, practice tests and cheat sheets.
If you don’t have a background in cloud computing, we recommend you first do the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner course or the AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate course. That being said, even complete cloud newbies have successfully passed their AWS Developer Associate exam with careful preparation.
What is the format of the AWS Certified Developer Associate exam?
The DVA-C02 exam is composed of 65 multiple choice and multiple selection questions. Questions are scenario based and you get a total of 130 minutes to complete the exam.
If English is not your first language you can request an accommodation when booking your exam that will qualify you for an additional 30 minutes exam extension.
You can take the exam in a testing center or using an online proctored exam from your home or office.
What is the passing score for the AWS Developer Associate exam?
All AWS certification exam results are reported as a score from 100 to 1000. Your score shows how you performed on the examination as a whole and whether or not you passed. The passing score for the AWS Certified Developer Associate is 720 (72%) out of 1000 points.
Are there any prerequisites for taking the AWS Certified Developer Associate exam?
There are no prerequisites for taking AWS exams. You do not need any programming knowledge or experience working with AWS. Everything you need to know is included in our courses. We do recommend that you have a basic understanding of fundamental computing concepts.

Exam Mode: In exam mode, you complete one full-length practice exam and answer all 65 questions within the allotted time.
Training Mode: When taking the practice exam in training mode (no time limit), you will be shown the answers and explanations for every question after clicking “check”.
Knowledge Reviews: Now that you have identified your strengths and weaknesses, you get to dive deep into specific areas with our knowledge reviews. You are presented with a series of questions focussed on a specific topic. There is no time limit and you can view the answer to each question as you go through them.

How do I earn my certificate of achievement?
With practice exams, a Certificate of Achievement is issued when you score 70% and above in your final exam simulator.
A certificate of completion is issued upon successful completion of the video course.
